Cabanas is a 29-year-old attacking midfielder who is currently playing for Grasshoppers after spending the 2006-07 campaign in Germany with Cologne. He holds Swiss and Spanish passports but his career was nearly ended when he was only 15 due to arthritis in his knee. Cabanas started his career with Grasshoppers and also had a spell on loan at Guingamp during his time with Cologne. He played in all four of Switzerland's World Cup games in Germany two years ago.
