The 24-year-old has emerged as Jakob Kuhn's first-choice goalkeeper this year and played in February's friendly defeat to England. He had been Switzerland's third-choice shot-stopper in the 2006 World Cup but, since moving from Portuguese side Nacional to Wolfsburg in January, his career has taken off. Benaglio started his career with Grasshoppers but moved to Stuttgart in 2003. He struggled to break into the Bundesliga outfit's first team and moved to Portugal two years later.
